In 1964, a group of men met at a baptist church in Johnson County with the hopes of starting a water system that would help their rural neighbors have access to water for their farms and homes. They began knocking on doors, finding support and putting plans into motion, and in 1965, the dream of a community water system was brought to life. For over 50 years, Johnson County Special Utility District has continued to find ways of working together with facilities and people, minimizing the impact on the land and serving the communities they love.
Although this rural water company isn’t as rural as its beginnings in 1964, the legacy and service it was founded on continues today. With a strong history and attachment to windmills and wells, JCSUD’S new brand identity has a modern take on these key elements. The brand experience uses custom logo shapes, personal photography, conceptual textures and proud messaging to tell the story of a rural beginning and bright future for the company and the communities they serve.
